Maintenance and support
Keeping existing systems healthy: updates, monitoring, fixes, and steady improvement — including software someone else wrote.
What is covered
- Updates — framework, language, and dependency upgrades, including security patches.
- Monitoring and fixes — error tracking, uptime checks, and fixing what breaks.
- Performance — finding the slow queries and pages, and making them fast.
- Small improvements — a steady flow of changes, without starting a project for each one.
- Taking over a codebase — I regularly inherit software from developers who have moved on, including older PHP systems, and bring it back under control.
How it works
We agree on a monthly amount of hours and a response time. You get one point of contact, a short monthly report of what was done, and a list of what I would fix next and why.
Before taking a system on, I review it and tell you what state it is in.
